GLIER'S GOETTA

Glier’s Goetta is more than a regional favorite — it’s the result of generations of tradition, skill, and family pride. The story began in 1946, when Robert Glier returned from World War II to Covington, Kentucky and opened a small shop with a sausage kitchen and smokehouse. There, he perfected his take on Goetta, a hearty German-American dish of pork, beef, oats, onions, and spices, inspired by recipes passed down since the late 1800s.

In 1989, the Gregory family expanded with The Boathouse on the Ohio River, pairing their famous ribs with scenic riverfront views. The Boathouse soon became as beloved as the original, blending tradition with an elevated dining experience.

Today, both locations stand as landmarks of Cincinnati dining—places where generations gather to celebrate, share, and make memories. The legacy of Ted and Matula lives on in every meal, making Montgomery Inn not just a restaurant, but a treasured part of the city’s soul.
